Class
Descriptions
Beginner:
students will explore the 3 elements of hatha yoga – breath,
postures, and meditation – and how they’re
connected.
Intermediate:
students will build on their foundation in hatha yoga, cultivating
awareness as they work more deeply with postures and breath.
Advanced:
a wide-ranging exploration of yoga that will deepen
understanding and connection to one’s home practice.
Students of all levels
are welcome at these
classes:
Introduction to Yoga:
learn the fundamental principles of poses, breathing and mediatation as
you explore Standing and Seated poses, Forward Bends, Back Bends and
Twists.
Yoga for Runners:
this
class will focus on the key joints and muscles that are most critical
for efficient, trouble-free, sustainable running. Additional emphasis
on the breath will help you to integrate proper breathing into your
runs.
Power Yoga:
a
vigorous style of yoga that uses posture flows and holding to create
heat while building strength, flexibility, and endurance - based on
ashtanga yoga
primary series.
Yoga For Teens:
balance
sports and other activities with this dynamic class that works on both
the physical and mental levels. increase strength, mobility and energy
while removing stress, developing mental focus, and freeing your
creativity.
Gentle Yoga: a therapeutic class
that uses simple mind/body exercises to help you experience the many
healing benefits of yoga.
Restorative
Yoga: focus on support and release using bolsters, blankets,
straps and your body’s wisdom.
Meditation
& Yoga: use meditation, visualization &
reflection to focus your mind, simple postures to move into your body,
and breath to deepen your experience.
Prenatal Yoga: be nourished and
empowered as you prepare for the birth of your child, with postures
adapted for all stages of pregnancy - special attention is given to the
role of breath in both yoga and labour.
Postnatal Yoga: Moms and babies can
explore the practice of yoga together. Focus on recreating strength,
stability
and flexibility in your body after the birth of your baby. Come with
baby or take a break on your own!.
Tai Chi: Tai Chi: a series of
slow meditative movements designed to promote inner peace while
reducing stress, increasing
strength and improving balance.
Nia: a body-mind-spirit
fitness practice using expressive movement to music that empowers
people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
Community Yoga: now trying yoga is easier than ever! This class is only $5 and is open
to all-levels. Each week it is taught by a different teacher so that
you can have a taste of the variety of teaching styles available here
at the Lotus Centre. It's first come, first served so arrive early to
get a good spot!
Pilates: this gentle and functional
class is for all who are interested in improving core
strength, suffering from lower back pain, or recovering
from childbirth or injuries.

Pre-registration is recommended. Walk-in registrations welcome when
space available. GST included in all workshop fees.
Workshop cancellation policy: if you cancel your space with four
days or more notice - full credit for another scheduled workshop or
refund less 20% of full fee. Less than four days notice - no credit or
refund.
Special Events cancellation policy varies by event
